Ed and his team did a complete rehaul of my former student-house kitchen from 1959. The results were spectacular, and beyond my expectations of what I thought could be done with this space. In additon to the quality of the work, I particularly appreciated the thoroughness of the design process. I was presented with many different options and was able to modify said options based on my own particular needs and preferences. This gave me confidence in the design decisions, as there was very little uncertainty as to what the finished product would look like. I appreciated Ed and the team's expertise and thoroughness. They were able to identify and correct hidden issues with the kitchen which became apparent when the walls/floor were opened up. This was a big project with some unforeseen complications, but it was still completed on time and according to the original design. Ed and his team have exceed our expectations not just on delivering us a well functional basement kitchen but also they are outstanding in customer service and managing our expectations. Over the past year, we've done two renovations with HQ Construction & Supplies, and I can't say enough good things about Ed and his team! My wife and I purchased our first home 21 years ago and we just recently decided it was time to upgrade our dated, builder grade kitchen. Ed and HQ Construction & Supplies Inc. was recommended to us by a family member who just used them for their kitchen reno. We were very impressed with their kitchen and viewed some more of his work here on houzz.com and we decided to make the call. Ed was extremely kind on the call and despite being approx. 60km from his showroom, he committed to make a visit to our place the very next day. Fast forward a few weeks later, Ed and his team put together 4 extremely detailed designs for us to view. Being our first major renovation it was amazing to see what Ed came up with and the possibilities we had to create our dream kitchen. The modeling software used was incredible and really gave us a clear vision of what our kitchen would look like once completed. We picked our favourite design and gave the job to Ed. Ed provided us a detailed timetable of what would take place and when. Now this is the part that I have to say exceeded our expectations. When Ed said the plumber or Electrician would be on site, they were there at the time he said. Cabinet guys will be there on Saturday at 9am, sure enough they were there at 9am. I can't tell you how important it was to us that the project stay on schedule, let's be honest any renovation is an inconvenience and you don't want it to go on any longer than it has to. I feel like Ed takes the scheduling aspect very seriously and was always communicating with us. Ed called us one day and advised there was a delay with the countertops. They were stuck in the port of Vancouver due to all the congestion issues. I work in the Freight Forwarding industry and I know very well the challenges in the market right now. Until the countertops arrived in Toronto, Ed provided continuous updates on the status, when it was on rail, what the ETA in Toronto was and when it actually delivered to the warehouse. I joked with Ed that I could probably get him a job as a freight forwarding operator as he clearly is good at it. Plain and simple, Ed is a reliable guy, you hear too many horror stories in this industry and with an investment of this size you just want to be able to trust someone. The finished product is everything we wished for, actually looks better than I could have ever imagined. The quote was fair and reasonable and within our budget. Ed was available on several occasions to consult and recommend plenty of options for Corian counters, sink, cabinet arrangement, and gables. Partial Renos can be challenging in terms of matching woodgrain, finish color and quality, Ed even left some matching paint so we could ensure the remaining bank was incorporated. Having had very successful kitchen and flooring renovations completed by Ed and his crew in our previous home, we turned to him when we needed carpeting in a bedroom and stairs in our new home. Ed helped us pick the right carpeting and colour and that involved some discussion as we were looking for high quality for the long term, not the cheapest option available. The carpet had to be ordered so it took a few weeks to arrive but a date was set for installation and work proceeded on that day. We were pleased to see that Ed's master installer, Chris was on the job as he was key to the excellent carpet install in our last home. He and Andrew worked as a great team and finished in a day. Ed came by later and helped me vacuum the carpeting and that was appreciated. With the remaining carpet, Ed measured up 3 closets and had custom edged mats made at no charge. Basement Reno..... Ed was exceptional and easy to talk to and communicate with. He did drawings for the project and we were able to customize it to suit our family. The companies that were hired by Ed were both great and somewhat disappointing. The flooring guys were amazing and by far were the best. The framing guys were really good at framing (even framed in my cabinets to be counter sinked into the wall so they didnt stick out alot. I was installing my cabinets myself and they made it very easy for me as they did an amazing job framing it for me.). But they also did the taping and mudding and this was poor quality. I had them come back a few times and it still looked very rough and messy. I ended up patching/mudding all the areas in question myself. The electricians did a great job and also installed other lighting that I was going to do on my own. Plumbing was only rough ins as I was installing the bathroom and wet bar on my own but it was very easy for me to work with. I also installed the cabinets, fireplace, shiplap wall, trim, painted and installed the pot lights (they were wired but had to cut the drywall and fit them in). And now that we're finished, it's spot on. He provided a very detailed timeline and was in constant contact with us to let us know next steps and was on site frequently to check on the progress. We originally hired HQ Construction and Supplies (HQ) to do a complete bathroom renovation. We were so pleased with the work, we subsequently contracted with them to do several additional smaller renovations in our home. They have a trustworthy, courteous and hardworking group of craftsmen. All the professionals that came into our home to do work paid amazing attention to detail. Ed, the owner of HQ immediately responded to any phone calls, texts/emails. Aside from a few minor hiccups (all projects of this scale will have them), they far exceeded all our expectations. We had a general idea of what we wanted, however, having no idea of the scope of these sorts of projects, we left the design and details to Ed. With each project he presented us with detailed plans. The plans outlined what work was to be done, what specific dates they were to be done, and obviously the project costs. Ed was very accommodating when we requested changes mid-project. He was also on top of every detail. I am sure we’ve all heard stories of contractors being difficult, not on time, over budget and unavailable. Ed was none of those things. We feel blessed that we found our way to HQ’s storefront. We’d be remiss not to mention several of the workmen who worked on the renovations. Bill, (we call him Construction Bill) handled so many different aspects of the projects. His finish carpentry is a sight to behold. Mark, the painter – did such exacting and beautiful work. We had our staircases replaced and he did the staining of the stairs, the bannisters et cetera. We did run into a little issue with staining the stairs, but Mark worked at it until it was perfect in his eyes and ours. Emilio, the tile installer. We are not even sure where to start. Suffice to say that we were very very pleased with the work that he did tiling the shower, the downstairs bathroom floor, our front entryway, the kitchen backsplash and the upstairs bathroom. Everyone from Ed to Rowena to the people noted above, and the electrician and plumbers, worked hard to make sure things went as smoothly as possible. Though we had a general idea of what we wanted in a bathroom reno, Ed and his staff drew up several computerized layouts allowing us to better establish the final design. He prepared a detailed cost estimate of the project and a workable schedule of activities for each day. His crew acquired all the materials in advance of the start date and brought everything before the first day of work so that once started, they would not have to delay. We gutted the bathroom ourselves to save some time and cost then his crew reinforced the walls, installed a new tub and tiled the surround and floor, then installed a new toilet. All wiring and plumbing was completed by skilled and licensed tradesmen. The final touch was the installation of a rolling glass door. The end result is beyond our expectations. It's been a year since installation and there have been no problems at all. We still get many complements when guests come over and get to see the new bathroom.
